We have been selected as one of 6 artists/teams to create a sculpture for the new Playable Art Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The park is due to open sometime in late fall. We will start construction of our 50-60 foot Dragonfly complete with slides, climbing rope wings, and endless creative play. This will be our largest and most complex work so far. So excited to be creating something so awesome in my home state! More info on the park can be seen at:
www.playableartpark.org

Our work at the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics museum, “Taiwan IS” is inspired by the poem “If You Would Ask” by Lee Min-Yung. Click any of the photos to see the gallery of the work. The poem truly speaks for itself:

If you ask
Who is the father of the island of Taiwan
I will tell you
The sky is the father of the island of Taiwan
If you ask
Who is the mother of the island of Taiwan
I will tell you
The ocean is the mother of the island of Taiwan
If you ask
What is the past of the island of Taiwan
I will tell you
Blood and tears drop on the feet of the history of Taiwan
If you ask
What is the present of the island of Taiwan
I will tell you
Corruption in power is eroding the Taiwanese soul
If you ask
What is the future of the island of Taiwan
I will tell you
Step out on your feet, the road is open to you.
(Translation: Joyce Huang)
We have once again found ourselves surrounded by noodles, humidity, and ceramics! We are resident artists at the Yingge Ceramics Museum for 3 months (until Jan. 31 2012) and are looking forward to once again creating giant brick/ceramic sculptures. The first two days we were here we visited 3 different brick factories and so far are feeling pretty excited about what we are cooking up for a playable sculpture on the museum grounds. With around million visitors a year, we can’t wait to get started on this next project. More to come!
